February 25, 2012 - 9am to 4pm : AC/DC Pinball launch party

AC/DC rocks out with Great Pinball Ltd!

I've lined up a nice hotel venue and meeting room for our Stern Pinball 'AC/DC' launch party on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The tournament is $5 per entry. The Westin Nova Scotian is offering attendees a special $89 room rate for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night for those looking to stay at the hotel during the weekend. The Westin is located downtown close to shops, bars, restaurants, parks, museums, and the dock for cruise ships. In order to get the special hotel room rate, you must book your room through Kim Painting at http://www.thewestinnovascotian.com. Make sure to mention you are coming to play in the pinball tournament at the AC/DC launch party!

Halifax has an International Airport (Stanfield International [YHZ]) for domestic and US flights, so if you can make it I'd love to see you!

Since there will be 2 AC/DC games set up for the tournament and 7 hours to qualify, you will be able to buy additional plays at $5 each. Each game will be set to 3 balls/game play. We will gauge how many people are waiting; so if there is a lineup, you may only be able to buy-in 1 game at a time. If you play earlier in the day and want to leave, we will call you if it looks like you are close to the top 4 at 2:30 pm. You will get to practice and play on the Transformers, Tron Legacy, Avatar and Rolling Stones LE during the tournament from 9 am to 4 pm. The top 4 players will enter into a final round of playoffs at 4 pm.

Prizes will include a trophy for the tournament winner, as well as Stern Pinball T-Shirts, translites, and other miscellaneous pinball goodies.

The two AC/DC games used in the tournament will be sold at cost after the event - dealer cost is around $5k (CDN) each. They will be played very lightly for just over a week including the day of the tournament. I will pay shipping back on a skid with the original shipping carton to the Day & Ross Dock if you purchase one of these games.

There will be a pinball party during the evening after the event at my house for anyone involved with the tournament, as well as other local players. On the night before the tournament (Friday, Feb 24) we will also be having a pinball party at another local pinball owner's house.

April 2012 : Building your own pinmame pinball machine

Starting in April, a few local guys are going to sign up for a personal guide to get us through building our own cabinet. For $100 each we will get his plans & expertise to guide us through it all. Well worth the money to save the time & hassle of finding all the information needed. Please contact me if you're interested in joining the build group. Please contact me so I can get a list going. So we can get started, even if you aren't in Metro Halifax.
